Get a Clover at home for next to nothing!

Posted in Coffee, Food, Geek on January 11th, 2008 by Michael

I spent a few hours today talking coffee with a guy at Agro Coffee who also uses the Clover (and apparently it breaks all the time and costs close to $13K).

Anyways, there is an easy way to get the “clover experiences” at home for very little money.

Phase One -- how it all starts

Take your French press and remove the “lid” of (you know, the one that covers the carafe).

The Final Version

Now, put the plunger 3/4 down and put the coffee grounds on top of it, then pour the water over it and wait for as long as you usually would keep it in the press, then slowly pull UP to seperate grounds and coffee.

Now also an Instructable

Boylan’s Natural Cane Cola

Posted in Coffee, Food on August 12th, 2006 by Michael

Found this today in a Supermarket. Not cheap, $2.29/bottle, but oh the taste.

Cane Cola

The colour is redder and a bit lighter than normal Coke, but it contains almost no carbonation. According to the label it contains:

  • Carbonated Water
  • Cane Sugar
  • Pure Essential Oils of Lemon, Lime and Cinnamon
  • Extracts of Bourbon Vanilla and Cola Nut
  • Caramel Color (from Cane Sugar)
  • Other natural flavors and spices
  • Phosphoric Acid
  • Caffeeine (from Coffee)

I can actually make out the vanilla in it as well, and it does have a fruity flavour. Clearly miles above of what Coke or Pepsi are pushing out. If that was what original Cola was like then man, do I wish they could go back to it.
