Accidentally Like A Martyr

Posted in Music on June 21st, 2007 by Michael

The phone don’t ring
And the sun refused to shine
Never thought I’d have to pay so dearly
For what was already mine
For such a long, long time

We made mad love
Shadow love
Random love
And abandoned love
Accidentally like a martyr
The hurt gets worse and the heart gets harder

The days slide by
Should have done, should have done, we all sigh
Never thought I’d ever be so lonely
After such a long, long time
Time out of mind

We made mad love
Shadow love
Random love
And abandoned love
Accidentally like a martyr
The hurt gets worse and the heart gets harder

Stargazer

Posted in Music, Quotes on April 19th, 2007 by Michael

[Currently listening to: Stargazer from the album "Seven Circles" by The Tea Party]

So you say that your heart
When it beats its like a landslide
And the word on the street from the man
It brings you down
Can you still find the time and the signs
To look around

You tell me love
Tell me where the stars sleep
Tell me why your eyes weep
I really want to know
And show me love
Take me to the place where
Everything would change there
And we’d all be free

And you place your faith in a mountain
But what you don’t understand
Is that the man is
The same old rock
Can you still find the time and the signs
To look around

And tell me love
Tell me where the stars sleep
Tell me why your eyes weep
I really want to know
And show me love
Take me to the place where
Everything would change there
And we’d all be free

These are the times
When we live inside our minds
With our hands in the air
There’s voices everywhere
In the slipstream
It’s like a daydream
These are the days
When we’re dancing through the haze
With our ears to the ground
We’re searching for the sound
Of a dove’s cry, but it won’t be over until

You tell me love
Tell me where the stars sleep
Tell me why your eyes weep
I really want to know
And show me love
Take me to the place where
Everything would change there
And we’d all be free

I really want to know
I really want to know
I really want to know
I really want to know

It’s a TOOL kinda night

Posted in Life, Music on January 8th, 2007 by Michael

[Currently listening to: Third Eye from the album "Ænima" by Tool]

I slept maybe six hours since Saturday, and although I am tired I am wide awake.

So there is Tool’s Third Eye playing on the new speakers and I realize they have ample bass for music.

Either way. Not sure if this sleeplessness is still an after effect of the concussion or something else.

On the “plus” side, I should know hopefully tomorrow what happens with my new Work Permit, with any luck it’s a done deal, if not. I am fucked.

Ah, the joy of being a foreigner. Question is: What if?

Hello.
Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me.
Is there anyone home?

Come on, now.
I hear youre feeling down.
Well I can ease your pain,
Get you on your feet again.

Relax.
I need some information first.
Just the basic facts:
Can you show me where it hurts?

There is no pain, you are receding.
A distant ships smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I cant hear what youre sayin.
When I was a child I had a fever.
My hands felt just like two balloons.
Now I got that feeling once again.
I cant explain, you would not understand.
This is not how I am.
I have become comfortably numb.

Ok.
Just a little pinprick. [ping]
Therell be no more –aaaaaahhhhh!
But you may feel a little sick.

Can you stand up?
I do believe its working. good.
Thatll keep you going for the show.
Come on its time to go.

There is no pain, you are receding.
A distant ships smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I cant hear what youre sayin.
When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse,
Out of the corner of my eye.
I turned to look but it was gone.
I cannot put my finger on it now.
The child is grown, the dream is gone.
I have become comfortably numb.

“Shades Of Grey”

Posted in Life, Music on November 11th, 2006 by Michael

Some things were perfectly clear,
seen with the vision of youth
No doubts and nothing to fear,
I claimed the corner on truth
These days it’s harder to say
I know what I’m fighting for
My faith is falling away
I’m not that sure anymore

Shades of grey wherever I go
The more I find out the less that I know
Black and white is how it should be
But shades of grey are the colors I see

Once there were trenches and walls
and one point of every view
Fight ’til the other man falls
Kill him before he kills you
These days the edges are blurred,
I’m old and tired of war
I hear the other man’s words
I’m not that sure anymore

Shades of grey are all that I find
When I look to the enemy line
Black and white was so easy for me
But shades of grey are the colors I see

Now with the wisdom of years
I try to reason things out
And the only people I fear
are those who never have doubts
Save us all from arrogant men,
and all the causes they’re for
I won’t be righteous again
I’m not that sure anymore

Shades of grey are all that I find
when I look to they enemy line
There ain’t no rainbows shining on me
Shades of grey are the colours I see

Shades of grey wherever I go
The more I find out the less that I know
There ain’t no rainbows shining on me
Shades of grey are the colors I see

Music to my ears

Posted in Culture, Music, Musings on August 3rd, 2006 by Michael

It is odd, but from time to time, my feeling towards music is different… Or rather the way I am perceiving / listening to it.

The last few weeks I didn’t really “listen” to the music in an enjoyable way, it “existed” but I didn’t “expand” on it so to say.

For the last four days or so I can “see” music again. Meaning, I hear different instruments, I “feel” the emotion….. I love it.

I wish I could find out why / how my perception changes…. Anybody having similar experiences?

Canada Day – Oi!

Posted in Fun, Music, Video on July 1st, 2006 by Michael

Well, it’s Canada Day, the International Jazz festival is on, and there is Olam:

Acid-klezmer, Yiddish bebop, Gypsy funk, and Balkan blues. Vancouver’s Olam performs energetic, passionate, and playful music that is both accessible and exotic. Groove to a fusion of old and new, East and West. You won’t be able to resist dancing to their delightfully infectious world beat tunes that combine jazz, salsa, bossa nova, merengue, bebop, rap, and reggae. The band features the haunting and dramatic vocals of Noa Ben-Mazia, the virtuoso clarinet/sax of jazz veteran Mike Braverman, and the super-hot accordion of Moshe Renert. With David Corman guitar, Brayden Wise bass, Jason Overy drums.
