I have some ideas rolling around in my head for the last little while… Story ideas that maybe I can get to “paper” sometime soon. So in “preparation” I was watching quite a bit of “old” Science Fiction (and not so old) and it is remarkable how some of these have stood the “test of time” (or not).
Star Trek the Next Generation
Umm. yeah well, come after me Trekkies, but I really don’t see the appeal of the series. It was “fun” at times, but the first three seasons were (simply put) horrible. If you look at the design and production you can see that TNG was pretty much just a rehash of TOS and even that (looking back) hasn’t stood the test of time quite that well.
Deep Space 9
Ah well, now with Worfs arrival it sort of got better, one can’t help but wonder though if that mainly came to pass due to Babylon 5 which showed that there is something that can be done with Science Fiction that is not Star Trek.
The best of the Trek franchises (in it’s later years), but that doesn’t really mean a lot.
Voyager
Well, same problem as TNG, it was a cute idea, too bad it never really got anywhere, it fell into the Star Trek trap, and this after DS9 showed so much promise in escaping it.
