Canada Day – Oi!

Well, it’s Canada Day, the International Jazz festival is on, and there is Olam:

Acid-klezmer, Yiddish bebop, Gypsy funk, and Balkan blues. Vancouver’s Olam performs energetic, passionate, and playful music that is both accessible and exotic. Groove to a fusion of old and new, East and West. You won’t be able to resist dancing to their delightfully infectious world beat tunes that combine jazz, salsa, bossa nova, merengue, bebop, rap, and reggae. The band features the haunting and dramatic vocals of Noa Ben-Mazia, the virtuoso clarinet/sax of jazz veteran Mike Braverman, and the super-hot accordion of Moshe Renert. With David Corman guitar, Brayden Wise bass, Jason Overy drums.

Two good shots from the World Cup (note, good means the photo, not necessarily the play / action involved)

First up: Netherlands vs. Argentina, who’d thought that Football has Martial Arts elements?

Next, Brazil, once upon part of the Portuguese empire, can play that way too:

Happy Canada Day

Yes, it is this time of the year again. Canada’s a year older and because you all paid your taxes so nicely the Federal Government is reducing the GST by 1%.

Celebrate, now you only pay 6% instead of 7%.
